Pros: I really love the simplicity of this website. It’s easy to read and and the Twitter box reminds me of an abstraction of a tree branch.

Cons: I didn’t really see any. other then I wish the Elephant and frog wallpapers came in the size for the desktop. not just the iphone.

brainstorming 10/13/09 October 15, 2009

Well, I did do this a little differntly. then I think I was supposed to. but it help me come up with some good ideas.

I started out with photography. The word I liked the most was “Flash” so I started playing with it and I come up with these words:

From “flash back” I strted thinking of more words:

Ads->old ads

Photos ->old photos ->memorable photos -> important events -> Images

So then I started thinking of historic people and events. Like Vietnam, and the shooting of that college at Kent in the 70′s. so I did an image search in google for “famous photos” and I got the one with Eintine sticking his tounge out and one by I believe Dorothea Lange. here is the one I saw:

As I was looking at the photos I realized most of them were in black and white which I liked and I started thinking about “Black and white” which made me think of “film Noir”. so from there I went to film and started writting down film noir titles so I could images from those films in my videography section. and for my Graphic Design section I started thinking of Old ads from that time period. I was thinking of using old ads from that time period, and maybe even using product ads for products that are still round today. and for Broadcasting I was thinking of using old television ads from the 40′s and 50′s like world news tonight or whatever was available for tht section. Then I decided to bounce my ideas off of David and see what he thought.

It always helps me to talk to other people about my ideas and bounce them off people. and he came up with some really good points. like the whole licencing thing that I could get sued over. He also pointed out that I was using “old movies” and “old photos” which might lead people to think of us as “old” or “in the past”. which I didn’t think of. so he started throwing words at me and the one that struck me was Texture. another thing he mentioned was that this website is supposed to be about the people in the Integrated media program. so I started thinking about using body parts to make a textured background.

My idea was for the main page that talked about everyone was to have a photo of everyone in the integrated media program but photoshop it so you mix up everyone’s features. I would seperate it by hair, eyes, nose, and mouth and mix everyone’s together and line it up in the back.

Then I thought for each background I would use a bodypart from people in that program and use if for the background and try to make it into a texture. I was thinking eyes for photography, thumbs for Graphic design, Lips for Broadcasting, and the body movement for video. Then I decided to bounce that idea off David.

He liked it but then he made the suggestion to use people’s faces from each of the pgrograms for the background. which I liked better then the body parts. which now that I think about it could have come off as creepy.

today at the max stop… October 6, 2009

I was reading a book while I was standing there waiting for the Max. I try to read, listen to music, or anything that tells people to “leave me alone.” so I’m standing there and I hear this guy asking people for a quarter. but I’m not really paying that much attention to him because I’m busy reading. and I hear him speaking some spanish to someone and sounds like he is really trying hard to communicate with them for a few minutes but they aren’t answering.

 I was thinking to myself “wow. that really sucks to be him.” and I look up to look at who he’s talking to and I realize he was trying to talk to me.

I kinda looked at him for a second while he’s still trying to communicate with me and I’m thinking “really? just because I have dark hair means I speak spanish?” so I look at him and very calmly and slowly say “No I do not have a quarter.”

he looks at me dumbfounded and says “Oh my god! you speak english!?!”

“yeah, I do.” I say factual way.

“Oh my god. do you even speak Spanish?” He then Questioned.

“no I don’t” I replied back.

At that point he just walked away extreamly embarassed while his friend laughed at him. I thoguht that was pretty entertaining.

Crazy things that happen on the bus September 24, 2009

I might as well tell you all now I ride the bus everywhere I go. So I end up with lots of stories that start off with “oh my god. Today on the bus…” Here’s my most recent story.

The other day, I was on my way to school when this guy comes on the bus with a medium size dog. It looked like it could be a cocker spaniel. When this man sat down on the bus, this mentally handicapped lady reached out to pet the dog. Next thing you know the dog is lunging to attack the lady while the guy is grabbing the dog’s leash and pulling it away from the woman. The whole time he is saying to the woman “Please don’t talk to him! He’s still in training! please don’t talk to him!” and this woman keeps on saying “I like little doggies!” to the man and his dog. I swear I thought the woman was about to pull back a bloody stump.

I guess what I don’t understand is if your dog might attack someone one on the bus because someone wants to pet the little doggie then why are you bringing them on the bus?
